Retrace: Ideas Portal

Retrace combines several tools every development team needs, but we are always open to fresh new ideas.  Please submit your feature request/idea for Retrace below.

Feature to enable ad-hoc tracing on all calls to a specific Url request for a limited period of time.

Once there is a performance issue or error noticed it can be difficult to catch a traced request.  Trace all requests for a given URL would likely need to shut itself off after a period of time to not impose performance issues with the app (I would think an hour).

Fiddler does it for all HTTP requests but only traces information in the HTTP packet.  New Relic says that marking something as a key transaction changes the probability of tracing: https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/apm/transactions/transaction-traces/configure-transaction-traces#key-txns "If you want to make it more likely a key transaction would generate transaction traces, lower its Apdex T value."

This feature is very similar to my request for User drilldown.

    Can you re-title the Idea:

Feature to enable ad-hoc tracing on all calls to a specific Url request for a limited period of time.

I'm curious if this is realistically possible. Do you know any tools that do this sort of thing?

Amendment: Hard to catch a trace in the specific instance if it is intermittent or just a certain user experiencing an issue.
